Line Dance Quilt-Along

Let's quilt along together!

Join me for this fun, 8 week quilt-along starting on June 24th, 2024.

Line Dance is a simpler-than-it-looks modern quilt to sew up that will make for a fun quilt along.

This quilt along is the perfect excuse to use up some favourite fabrics from your stash, or purchase that line you were looking at but didn't have a project for. Plus, making the quilt with likeminded people is just more fun than alone.

How the quilt along works

Sign up to the Quilt-Along emails here and once a week for 8 weeks you will receive an email with the weekly prompt as well as all my best tips and tricks to help you complete the quilt top.

There is also the hashtag #LineDanceQAL on Instagram, and a dedicated Facebook group where we post our progress so we can all ooh and ahh over the beautiful quilts in the making!

How to participate

  • Sign up below to receive the weekly emails during the quilt along.
  • Post your progress pictures in the Facebook group (and on Instagram to the hashtag #LineDanceQAL).
  • Then check out and comment on everyone else's photos, ask questions, and have fun.

Schedule

The Line Dance quilt along will go for a nice and relaxed 8 weeks from June 24th, 2024 to August 17th, 2024. Since this is over the summer, a casual, slightly slower pace will allow everyone to sew along even if you have kid commitments, holidays or weekends away.

Quilt pattern

You'll need the Line Dance quilt pattern to participate. Line Dance is a fun and fairly easy quilt to make, and build your piecing skills. It's suitable for adventurous beginners and intermediate quilters, not because it's difficult to piece, but there are a lot of pieces, and depending on the colourway you choose, it helps if you have some experience keeping your pieces organized.

The Line Dance quilt pattern is available in the pattern shop as either a PDF instant download, or a printed pattern booklet.

Material requirements

Line Dance works with your stash or yardage, and both solids or prints.

This is the perfect quilt to use that fabric collection you just couldn't walk past without purchasing, but haven't used yet because you're waiting for the perfect project. Show it off in a Line Dance quilt! I will be using these gorgeous prints from Flirtation by Zen Chic for Moda Fabrics for my Small Throw (affiliate link*).

Line Dance quilt options

The Line Dance quilt pattern has lots of options.

The pattern has instructions for 4 sizes: Baby, Small Throw, Large Throw, and Twin

And 3 colourways: Two-colour, Loops, and Scrappy

You can use either yardage, fat quarters, or fat eighths to make the Bar Code quilt. Use assorted fat quarters or fat eighths from your stash to make a scrappy version like this one.

Use half yards to make this version with "loops". Pick two contrasting colour families (either different colours, or light and dark fabrics) to make the loops stand out. This is the version and size I will be making for myself.

Or make the two-colour version by selecting two fabrics for the loops, plus a background. This version has a very striking, minimalist look, and is the easiest one to make.

If you want to play around with fabrics and colours, there are colouring pages in the pattern, and it is also available as a digital colouring page on PreQuilt. And here are a a few blog posts for more inspiration:
