The Bar Quilt pillow series
The Bar Code quilt pattern is the fourth, and last, pattern in the Bar Quilts series, so my series of pillows is now complete too.
I had wanted to make matching pillows for my couch without making the same pattern multiple times. So when it came time to launch the Bar Quilts series, I decided to use each of the four patterns for a pillow using the same fabrics in each, and a complementary fabric for the backing.
I'm excited to show you all of them together!
All the patterns for these pillows are available in the pattern shop.
The Bar Quilt patterns
The Bar Quilt patterns are all modern, pared-down versions of traditional patterns. From left to right:
- Spinning Top is a play on a square-in-a-square block
- Raise The Bar is a large courthouse steps block
- Staccato is a variation on the courthouse steps
- Bar Code is a minimalist take on the traditional rail fence pattern
The first three patterns have instructions for 3 sizes, Bar Code includes 4 sizes and three different colour options.
Fabric choices
I wanted the Bar Quilt pillows to match, but not be the same, so I chose the same fabrics for all of them, with different backs.
The navy budgie print is from the Promenade collection by Figo Fabrics. The light blue is part of Zen Chic's Breeze collection. The yellow is a Quilter's Combination from Stof Fabrics and the two pinks are both from Kristy Lea's Create collection for Riley Blake. The Bar Code pillow uses one extra fabric, so I chose a medium blue from Zen Chic's Breeze collection.
The background and pillow backs are all Kona solids - white for the background, and Celestial, Grellow, Valentine and Robin Egg for the pillow backs.
Quilting designs
To complement the minimalist look of the quilt patterns I chose to do a 2" crosshatch on all of them. This pulls them all together, doesn't detract from the quilt pattern and works for all four of them despite the different quilt patterns.
All the patterns are available in the pattern shop.
