July 2026 Quilt Colour Inspiration

Fabric swatches for July 2026

Having colours on the screen as inspiration is one thing, but as quilters we need to be able to find them in fabric collections as well. I'm using the QuiltySolid app to put together fabric collections of some common solids brands. Not all brands have the same variety of shades of every colour, so you'll see some variance in the brands I list here depending on the current palette.

Always check these in person, though. The app gives the closest colours by hue, saturation, and value, to the HEX code entered, but they may not look quite right together in person. Substituting a different shade for one of the fabrics might work better.

This was a fun colour palette to play with, and made for some delicious and fresh looking quilts (and even a rather retro-inspired one!). I hope you enjoy them, too, and try this out on one of your next quilts.

The first pattern here is Bar Code. It's one of my favourite ones to play with, the stripes make this one really interesting for colour placement. I had to add some extra pinks in this version, though, since the original palette only had one and I wanted to use the pale grey as a background.

This pattern is Chasing Rainbows and is on my list to write up as a standalone pattern for the shop. The version I made for Make Modern featured a full rainbow, but this pattern has so much potential for other colourways, like this one. I realized after I saved it that I had used a very similar palette in February on this exact quilt, too. My current colouring is different, but it struck me as interesting that I would be drawn to this particular quilt for this colour palette.

Next up we have Line Dance. This first version looks like a very sweet, girly quilt to me, and I could see this in room decorated with yellow and pink accents as well.

The second version is the one that surprised me with its slight retro look. It's the same colours, just placed a little differently and it gives a whole different vibe. 

And the last one for this month is Scrappy Love. I've been working on some scrappy quilts again lately so I thought I'd try out a scrappy version in yellow and pink. I tried to stick to mostly pale pinks, and varying the yellow to include both the ochre and the bright yellows from the palette.
