Line Dance SAL Week 8 - Assembling the quilt top
Welcome to the last week of the Line Dance SAL - it's time to assemble those gorgeous quilt tops!
Thanks to the large quilt blocks this top comes together really quickly.
I prefer to sew my blocks into rows first, and then join rows, but you could just as easily sew them together two by two into groups of four, for example, for the square throw.
Give all the blocks a good press before sewing them together.
Don't forget to rotate the blocks where indicated, so that the ribbons connect. The seam allowances for the ribbons should all nest between the blocks.
To make the seams between the rows nest as well, alternate the direction for pressing your seam allowance with each row. This also makes pinning the blocks together accurately a lot easier.
I also recommend a "Victory Lap" - that's edge stitching all the way around the finished quilt top, 1/8" away from the edge, to make sure none of the seams come undone. There are a lot of seams right at the edge, so this helps to stabilize the whole top.
And that's it!
Congratulations on finishing your Line Dance quilt top!
Make sure to post a picture of your finished top by Sunday midnight, August 18th 2024, to be entered into the draw for our grand prizes. You can post in the Facebook group, on Instagram (make sure to tag me so I see it), or if you are not on either of those platforms, email me a picture.
I'll be drawing three names at random from all the finishers on Monday, and contacting you via email if I have your address, but also via Instagram or Facebook, depending on where you posted the finished top.
